Can someone PLEASE explain to me what intermolecular and intramolecular forces are?

I know that Intramolecular forces are forces within a molecule (i.e., between atoms in a molecule) and intermolecular forces are forces between molecules. But I am really confused as to which force applies to either an ionic or covalent bond. I was under the umption that a molecule can only have a covalent bond, so then which applies to which!!!
