Dalton's law and atomic weight of mg!! i need help with calculations!?

Your calculations are correct. Sources of error could be due to incomplete conversion of the starting magnesium or it could be that you start with an impure sample (or a combination of the two). That would explain why you calculate an atomic weight of over 300 when the actual atomic weight of magnesium is only 24.3 g/mol.
