What do Orthodox Christians do at Christmas?
First of all, we go to liturgy. We have it at midnight Christmas Eve, but other Orthodox churches have it Christmas morning. Then the presents and feasting begins. We have been fasting since November 15 (no meat, cheese, milk, or eggs, and on some days no wine or fish), so we are ready to feast. All the good parties are between Christmas and Theophany (12 days later) so we can feast. We may do a few Christmas carols, but the Ukrainians are really famous for their Christmas singing. There is no Santa Claus on Christmas--we celebrated St. Nicholas on December 6.
